1. What should this video achieve?
Choose the main purpose: introduce the business, explain a service, support recruitment, train staff or share a customer story. Describe the action or understanding you want viewers to take away.
2. Who is it for?
Be specific about the audience and what they already know. A prospective customer, a new employee and a technical specialist need different explanations and levels of detail.
3. What is the main message?
Write one sentence that the viewer should remember. Then list two or three supporting points. Avoid trying to fit every company message into one short film.
4. What can we show?
List people who could speak, products or processes to demonstrate, and locations that support the story. Share relevant existing footage, brand guidelines and approved facts. Confirm permissions for customer names, logos and locations.
5. What must happen during filming?
Include locations, available dates, interview subjects, access limits and any safety or operational requirements. Flag noisy environments and activities that only happen at certain times.
6. Where will the finished video appear?
List website, presentations, social platforms or internal channels. Specify preferred durations, aspect ratios, captions, languages and any additional versions. Identify who will approve the edit and consolidate feedback.
7. What are the budget and deadline?
Give a realistic budget range, the required delivery date and any immovable event date. This helps the production team recommend a scope that fits your resources. You can send an early brief even if some answers are still undecided.
